Loiri - patronal holiday of St. Nicholas

In Loiri there is the church dedicated to the patron saint of the town of Loiri Porto San Paolo, dedicated to St. Nicholas of Bari in honor of Nicola Vincentelli who donated the land on which it stands. The construction is due to the work of evangelization of the countryside wanted by Pope Pius XI between 1922 and 1939; in 1966 it became a parish church. Every year on the last Sunday of August the feast in honour of the Saint takes place, which begins in the late afternoon with mass celebrated on the churchyard in front of the church, preceded by a solemn procession that winds through the streets of the village; the evening continues with a dinner offered by the committee entertained by songs and dances.
