Isos- sustainable islands

The WAP Tavolara adheres to the community project ISOLE Sostenibili (Réseau d'îles pour le développement) which sees as leader the French department Département du Var and involves the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the AMP Tavolara, the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, the Province of La Spezia and the French partners Espace Littoral et des Rivages Lacustres, L'Office de l'Environnement de la Corse, Parc National de Port-Cros, Ville de Cannes.
The small islands in the Mediterranean area, involved in this project, are territories with unique cultural and natural heritage, but they are also fragile territories compared to the challenges imposed by a mainly seaside tourism. These island territories, with considerable variations in population according to the seasons, have common problems of degradation of their heritage, waste management or energy supply that are not adapted to the environmental quality of the places. The islands forming part of the partnership - Lérins Island (AM), Hyères Island (VAR), Lavezzi Island (CORSICA), Capraia Island (TUSCANY), Tavolara and Asinara Island (SARDINIA), Palmaria Island (LIGURIA) - wish to engage in this strategic project to preserve their heritage and jointly develop a "sustainable island" approach.
